Originally from Côte d'Ivoire, Yacouba Tanou is a photographer based in Washington, D.C. focused on creating beautiful lifestyle portraits as well as candid images for events, weddings, trade shows, conferences, and corporate head-shots. His photographs have appeared in British Airways (HighLife Magazine), The Outside Magazine, Coastal Living Magazine, JPG Magazine. Additionally, in 2011 and 2012 he won awards in the Contemporary Life Category of FotoWeekDC an international photography competition. As a result of these awards, Yacouba was featured in the Washingtonian Magazine, the Washington Post, and appeared on Fox 5 News.

Goals as a photographer:

In February 2014, I plan to photograph my home country Cote D'ivoire, documenting the effects of the 10 years of civil unrest on those who experienced the turmoil. Additionally, I will document the infrastructures put in place by the Ivorian government to aide the recovery of my nation.

In 5 years, as a West African, I would like to photograph the 50 states of the United States, documenting the landscape, and people in their natural environment. Hopefully by 2018.
